Solo Summit Recap: Your 3-Step Framework for Using AI for Your Solo Business

Everybody’s talking about AI. It’s no longer only relevant for the most tech-savvy early adopters—it’s non-negotiable if you want to do more with less in your solo business and remain competitive with technology and other humans. 

Ben Angel_speakerBut randomly typing jumbled prompts into ChatGPT isn’t enough to stay cutting-edge. “AI is simply a tool at the end of the day,” explained Ben Angel, Author and Online Course Creator at Becoming Unstoppable LLC, during his “AI That Actually Works: Technology Investment for Solos” session at Lettuce’s November 2025 Solo Summit. “It’s how you apply this tool in your business that is going to make the difference.”

 

So, how do you use AI in your solo business in the most impactful and efficient ways? Ben introduced a three-step process to help solopreneurs reap the many benefits of AI—without the overwhelm, wasted effort, and tech clutter. 

 

Step #1: Replace

“We want to swap low-value tasks for AI execution to reclaim hours immediately,” Ben explained. “This is your foundation for those quick wins.” Ben said there are several steps you can take to build this foundation, specifically in ChatGPT: 

  • Customize your security settings: Within “settings” and “data controls,” you can control what you do and don’t want to share with the model. This step can give you some added peace of mind, especially if you deal with a lot of sensitive client information.
  • Connect to your other platforms: ChatGPT is a lot more helpful if you don’t expect it to work in a vacuum. Again, visit your “settings” and “apps and connectors” to link it with other tools you use—such as Google Drive, your calendar, Notion, or your email.
  • Upload relevant documents: “Create simple documents that you can put into a project within ChatGPT,” Ben said. These can be things like your support emails, refund policy, customer objections, and more. They’re all valuable resources for ChatGPT to learn from and refer to.
  • Document your processes: It’s also helpful to document tasks and processes you complete frequently. A tool like Scribe can quickly create standard operating procedures for you, simply by recording you completing the tasks. “You can take this and hand it off to a VA, or you can give it to an AI agent to run this step-by-step process itself,” Ben added.

With those things in place, you can use an individual chat within Chat GPT to “perform triage within your business,” he continued. “It can identify key trends and patterns within your business that you can then capitalize on in later steps.” 

“We’re building up your foundation,” he added. “We’re not getting distracted by different tools. We’re bringing it back to basics to simplify your business, but to also maximize the data that you currently have.” 

 TIP: Check out the ChatGPT Atlas browser and ask it to track all of your browsing activity for at least a month. From there, Ben said it can “generate a weekly report that includes your top-repeated tasks and recommend workflows.”

 

Step #2: Optimize

With the basics in place, Ben said it’s time to “test what moves money in your business and grows those scales.” A lot of this hinges on what Ben called “The 1% Effect,” which he described as “big wins from tiny tweaks.”

For example, maybe you have an order form that generates an average order value of $200. You spend about $150 on Facebook ads with a 1% conversion rate. That means, even though your revenue is $200, your profit is only $50. However, if you double your conversion rate, your revenue jumps to $400 with a $250 profit. “The result is five times more profit without higher ad spend,” Ben said.

That’s just an example, but the point with this step is to “aim artificial intelligence at very specific profit levers.” That could be increasing your leads, boosting your average order value, increasing subscriptions, or optimizing your customer acquisition costs. 

Again, you’ll leverage the data you already have—things like emails, orders, comments, and more. Ben said that even getting rejected is helpful because “failure is feedback.”

Feed that information to ChatGPT and then ask it to provide feedback and identify small tweaks you could make to your existing approach. Then, try out just one change per week, like changing a headline on a landing page or testing a different subject line on your sales email.

Each time, let ChatGPT know what tweak you made and the results you achieved. Then ask for suggestions on what to change next. It can lead to a powerful partnership and big returns for your business. “As solo business owners, we haven’t had this kind of access unless we’ve paid thousands of dollars to marketing consultants,” said Ben. “Do not doubt the little changes and tweaks in your business.”

 TIP: “Missed comments or missed DMs equal missed cash,” advised Ben. In ChatGPT, you can use “Agent Mode” by typing “/agent” in the composition field of a chat. Then, prompt it to search your social media to find any DMs or comments you failed to engage with. It’s an easy way to catch opportunities and potential relationships that you would’ve otherwise overlooked.

 

Step #3: Reinvent

You’ve already done a lot, but Ben said you can prepare for the future even further by using “those insights to redesign your business so it can’t be replaced.”

It might sound like a big undertaking, but Ben advised that the best thing you can do is to pull data from the last 90 days. “Your top emails, proposals, DM threads, cancellations, meeting notes, and more,” he explained. 

You can feed all of that information to AI and then ask it to find leaks in your sales process. Maybe it flags that inquiries consistently stall after you spend pricing. Or maybe it spots repeated objections buried in your DMs. 

From there, you can ask AI to map out why those leaks exist, what friction points to remove, and even generate a brand-new work map or AI risk map based on your patterns. 

This kind of insight helps you decide whether to stop or continue certain activities, and then whether to automate them or keep them on your plate. “With the ultimate goal to reinvent your offers and reinvent the products and services that you offer in the marketplace,” Ben explained. 

 

AI for Solos: Move From Overwhelm to Opportunity

Embracing AI isn’t about keeping up with every new tool—it’s about using what you already have to build a more resilient and relevant solo business. 

“What is my purpose if AI can do it faster and cheaper than I can?” Ben concluded. “That’s very much a journey each and every one of us is going to go on in the next few years. I encourage you to start that journey as soon as possible because you have a choice here—and that choice will decide your future.”
